Sazmining Platform

Overview

When I joined Sazmining, the company had revenue pre-committed by its customer base — but the core service didn't exist yet and the tech stack was in its infancy. Sazmining is a Bitcoin cloud mining operation, and my job was to build the platform that would let the business actually deliver on what customers had already bought.

My role

I was the Technical Lead. I built and managed the engineering team, owned the architecture, and stayed close enough to operations that I personally deployed the first Sazmining facility at a recommissioned hydroelectric dam in Wisconsin.

What I built

I delivered the full operational software stack:

• Mining dashboard — real-time visibility into fleet performance
• Payouts — customer payout logic tied to mining output
• Pool logic — hashrate allocation and pool management
• User accounts — customer-facing portal and admin tooling
• Ops tooling — what the field team needed to run facilities day to day
• Accounting tooling — financial reconciliation for a hardware-heavy business

The stack was TypeScript-first: React and Next.js on the frontend, Nest.js with GraphQL on the backend, PostgreSQL for persistence, Kubernetes and AWS for infrastructure, and Foreman for Bitcoin mining fleet management. Styling used SCSS.

The hardest problem

Rig optics and lifecycle management was the deepest technical challenge — tracking physical miners from procurement through deployment, maintenance, degradation, and retirement, while keeping customer-facing dashboards accurate in near real time.

Outcome

When I left, Sazmining was past $100k ARR, operating two facilities with more than 3 MW of power, and I had personally stood up the first facility at the Wisconsin hydro dam. The company went from pre-revenue promise to post-revenue operations.
